Things Are Not Always What They Seem

Things Are Not Always What They Seem

Often in life we get hung up when others act differently than we would have liked. People say something harshly, people don’t call when you hoped they would, people end relationships abruptly, people don’t show up, people are on a different page causing miscommunication, etc. Life is full of situations in business and our personal lives that can leave us feeling like we did something wrong, feeling angry, frustrated at others, confused, hurt, rejected or invalidated.  It is easy to blame, attack, accuse or be baffled at why another person acted toward us as they did. The key to remember is it is not TOWARD us, they are just “acting” in line with what is happening in their life. It is not a personal message to you. If you are confused with how someone is acting, back up and don’t respond negatively. Get in a position of understanding and look to see what else might be causing the behavior. If you can’t get answers, let it go, being confident that it is likely not about you.

Things are not always what they seem and it is highly possible the other person was having a bad day, might be feeling sick, might have gotten bad news, was busy or distracted, etc. People in general do not seek to be negative to others, they experience it in their life first and unconsciously reflect it back out to others. So, instead of picking up on a chain reaction of indirect attacks and getting negative yourself, be a leader and be understanding, compassionate and open minded.
